On Saturday, two individuals, reportedly associated with government-backed militias, locally known as “Death Squads” were killed, and three others were injured in separate incidents in Balochistan’s Kech and Kohlu districts.

In the first incident, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted Jameel, son of Malik Dadullah, in the Kohad area of Tump Tehsil, Kech. Another individual, Meraj Arif, sustained injuries and was rushed to Turbat Civil Hospital but succumbed to his wounds. Local sources confirmed the victims were linked to a government-supported militant group.

In Kohlu, gunmen attacked the camp of Mohabbat Khan Marri, a government-backed figure in Londo, Noy Shim area. Three individuals were injured in the assault. The attackers set fire to the camp and seized weapons before fleeing the scene.

In a separate incident, armed men attacked three vehicles transporting minerals in the Badal Karez Cross area of Nushki district. One vehicle was set ablaze, while the other two were severely damaged by gunfire.

Such attacks are commonly attributed to Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, who claim to target “death squad” members and vehicles involved in what they term the “looting” of Baloch resources. No group has claimed responsibility for these latest incidents. However, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has previously issued warnings against cooperation in mineral exploitation, threatening to destroy vehicles involved.
