Four Baloch men who were forcibly disappeared after being detained by Pakistani forces earlier this month in Kech district’s Buleda have been released and returned home.
The families of the men confirmed their return on Tuesday evening. The men were identified as Mahad, son of Umeed, a resident of Minaz Buleda, and Waleed, son of Hameed, along with Hanif and Nazeer, both sons of Umeed, from the Gilli area.
How, despite the return of these men, reports of new enforced disappearances continue to emerge daily from various regions in Balochistan.
According to a report by the Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB), the month of July saw a surge in killings and enforced disappearances across Balochistan, reportedly carried out by Pakistani security forces and other law enforcement agencies.
The report noted that disappearances rose from 62 in June to 76 in July, while killings increased from 25 to 31 during the same period.
