Faculty members at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) have leveled serious allegations against the varsity administration, accusing them of harassment and levying fabricated charges against teachers and faculty members of Baloch origin on multiple occasions. The teachers allegedly falsely framed include Sohail Anwar Baloch, Dr. Ikram Ali Baloch, Maqbool Ahmed, and Assistant Director P&D Haneef Khetran.
The controversy began on January 15 when Registrar BUITEMS Zahid Rauf filed an FIR alleging the theft of his personal file. This led to the arrest of Maqbool Ahmed Baloch and Haneef Khetran, who were later released on bail. Subsequently, on April 29, Sohail Anwar Baloch and Dr. Ikram Ali Baloch were arrested in connection with the same case and spent five days in jail.
Faculty members claim that the registrar and the university administration orchestrated the theft of the files to frame Baloch faculty members who have been outspoken about university mismanagement and the violation of merit-based rules. They have called for a government investigation into individuals accused of breaching the university’s merit-based policies.
Furthermore, the teachers allege that the registrar, the vice-chancellor, and an individual named Qadeem are conspiring to remove certain Baloch faculty members from their positions and damage their reputations.
It is noteworthy that Baloch faculty members constitute less than 10% of the total faculty at BUITEMS, one of Balochistan’s largest universities. There is a widespread belief among the faculty that the administration is actively seeking to dismiss all Baloch faculty members from the university.
