In Zahedan city of Western (Iranian-administrated) Balochistan, unidentified armed individuals opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two Iranian forces’ personnel, while skirmishes have also been reported in Sooran.
The incident in Zahedan occurred near the Sarjangal area, where at least two personnel were killed and one injured in clashes with armed individuals, according to reports confirmed by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
Sources indicate that one personnel was also wounded in the attack. Following the incident, additional military units have been deployed to the area. However, authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased personnel.
Meanwhile, reports from the Sooran region in Western Balochistan suggest clashes between Iranian forces and armed militants. However, details about the casualties in these clashes have not been made public yet.
These incidents come at a time when last week, armed individuals targeted Iranian forces in the Chabahar and Rask regions of Western Balochistan, marking significant assaults.
According to Iranian state media, clashes erupted between Sunni militancy group Jaish al-Adl and Iranian security forces in Chabahar and Rask cities. During these clashes, 18 militants of Jaish al-Adl were reportedly killed, while 11 personnel from various security units lost their lives.
Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for these attacks, asserting to have eliminated nearly 200 Iranian personnel in the assaults and seizing numerous military camps and weapon depots. The group also confirmed the deaths of 18 of its members.
