A female polling agent was shot and killed, and three individuals, including a child, were injured during re-polling at the Government Girls Polling Station PB-7 in the Sanjawi area of Ziarat.
The shooting incident occurred at the women’s polling station in the Sanjawi Bazaar as people were casting their votes.
Reports suggest that the violence was triggered by a clash between supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate and former provincial minister, Noor Muhammad Dummar, and the supporters of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
The clash resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the two groups, which continued for several hours until security forces arrived and secured the polling station.
The clash reportedly stemmed from accusations of electoral rigging by Jamiat against the PML-N candidate. This led to escalated tensions between the two groups and the subsequent exchange of fire, involving modern weapons, during the re-polling process.
