In the Kech district of Balochistan, there have been recent reports of an individual being forcibly disappeared allegedly by Pakistani forces, while another has been released after a period of disappearance.

Ahmed Ibrahim, a young man from the Absar Daki Bazaar area, was reportedly detained during a raid by Pakistani forces in the early hours of Wednesday. Since the operation, Ahmed has been missing, leading to concerns about his safety and whereabouts.

This incident closely follows the death of Ahmed’s older brother, Shahid Dur Bibi, who was killed last month in the Wali Thangi area of Quetta during a clash with Pakistani forces.

In a separate but related development, Kambar Baloch, an FSC student from Kolwah, who had been missing since August, was released. Kambar had reportedly been taken into custody by Pakistani forces from the Sharjah Hotel in Quetta.

As per locals, the enforced disappearance of Ahmed Ibrahim, particularly following his brother’s death in a clash with security forces, raise questions about the potential use of collective punishment tactics by Pakistani forces. Such practices, where family members or relatives are penalized for the actions of an individual, are condemned under international human rights laws. These laws emphasize the importance of individual justice, and collective punishment is seen as a violation of these fundamental principles.
