The Karachi Zone of the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) hosted an interactive session in Lyari under the banner of the “Baloch Literacy Campaign”.

The event was divided into four segments: speeches addressing the educational crisis in Lyari, career counseling sessions, tableaus, and an in-depth presentation on the campaign itself. An accompanying book stall displayed various literary works, including those related to the campaign.

The initiative aimed to highlight and address the educational challenges within Lyari and underline the broader importance of education in addressing societal issues. It also sought to raise awareness among the Baloch populace about various societal issues.

Key speakers, including BSAC central committee members and local activists, provided insights into the region’s educational challenges. They highlighted that Lyari, once celebrated for its cultural vibrancy reminiscent of ancient Greece—a hub for philosophy, literature, politics, and intellectual discourses—has, in recent times, been predominantly associated with football and drug-related issues. The narrative emphasized the potential of Lyari’s youth, suggesting they have been marginalized by external influences.

The speakers affirmed their commitment to supporting the youth through counseling and creating an academically conducive environment. The event, attended by a significant number of local educators and students, culminated with the distribution of Baloch Literacy Campaign booklets.
