Three civilians, including two women, were injured in the Mand area of Kech district after a rocket struck a residential property late Friday night. The source of the rocket attack remains unidentified.
Earlier that night, unidentified armed assailants reportedly targeted a central camp of Pakistani forces in the area with rockets. People living in the proximity reported hearing loud explosions, which were shortly followed by gunfire. The forces reportedly responded to this attack swiftly.
While initial reports did not indicate any casualties resulting from this attack on the camp, the aftermath saw the Pakistani forces ramp up security measures, including setting up more checkpoints around the area.
Local sources suggest that the rocket that hit the home might have been part of the forces’ retaliation after the attack on their camp. Historically, in the region, there have been suggestions that attacks on military posts occasionally result in quick counteractions. Critics contend that such rapid counteractions can, at times, be indiscriminate, leading to unintended civilian casualties.
