The administration of Ghazi University in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab province of Pakistan has fired a professor on Friday over protesting against harassment of students.

According to sources, Prof. Rafiq Qaisarani has been sacked for participating in a protest led by students against harassment and profiling of Baloch students in educational institutions in Punjab.

Students and people from different walks of life have condemned the dismissal of the professor and said that there would be a protest against this arbitrary and illegal act.

It may be recalled that cases of violence, harassment and enforced disappearances of Baloch students from various educational institutions in Punjab province of Pakistan are being reported continuously.

Students have been protesting for several weeks against such discriminative acts by the university administrations and law enforcement forces.

After the continues protests by students, earlier this month Islamabad High Court heard the case against enforced disappearances and harassment of Baloch students in Punjab and Balochistan.

Currently students in Ghazi University were protesting against a fresh case of enforced disappearance of a Baloch student from Lahore Punjab University on Tuesday.
