Enforced disappearances are on a rise in Balochistan, a total of at least 16 people have been reportedly abducted by Pakistani security forces in June 2021 alone. Four of them were abducted yesterday allegedly by the security forces in Kech district of Balochistan. Whereas another went missing on 11th of June.
According to sources, early on the morning of 12th June Pakistani forces arrested and took away four Baloch youngsters to an undisclosed location, after a raid in Konshkalat, tehsil Tump of Kech district.
The abductees have been identified as Abdullah s/o Hussain Ali, Sohrab s/o Raheem Bakhsh, Guharam s/o Nadil and Sattar s/o Illahi Bakhsh.
Separately, a Baloch man identified as Dawood Lateef was allegedly abducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) during a raid in Aabsur, Turbat, on 11th of June.
Cases of ‘enforced disappearances’ have seen a rapid rise in Balochistan in the month of June.
On 11th of June, Three persons were reportedly “abducted” in Balochistan. The victims were identified as Sameer Murad and Rustam Hassan of Kech district and Waseem s/o Shareef of Khuzdar.
On 08th of June, Pakistani forces allegedly abducted two Baloch students near Bolan Medical College. The abducted students were identified as Qasim s/o Ghani and Bilal s/o Mohammad Bux.
On the same day another case of enforced disappearances was reported in Quetta. According to sources a Baloch mountain climber Mansoor Qambrani, member of a hiking group ‘Mureed Adventure’, was reportedly abducted from Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan.
On 07th of June, three Baloch youngsters, identified as Yasir s/o Mohammad Ayub, Bahadur Khan s/o Haider Khan and Ghulam Qadir s/o Huzoor Bux were reportedly abducted from Khuzdar and Kalat districts of Balochistan.
On 3rd of June, two Baloch men Mahmood s/o Hashim Baloch and Shah Murad Baloch were allegedly arrested and moved to an unknown location by the security forces.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has been campaigning against the ‘enforced disappearances’ in Balochistan for over a decade. The organization has stressed that, “on one hand, state forces are releasing a small number of previously abducted people but the number of new abductions in Balochistan are rising at a much higher pace.”
