The Pakistani army and secret agencies raided Khuda Nizar´s house on 15th August 2019, situated in Sordo Panjgur. The family alleges that they beat up the ladies in the house, stole away valuables and whisked away Khuda Nizar´s 17 years old son Shah Nizar.
According to sources, they raided the same house on a night a few days after this incident, took away more valuables and this time they wanted to whisk away Shah Nizar´s younger brother Jahanzaib. With the fortunate interference of the neighbourhood, who gathered in large numbers, the army personnel were stopped from forcibly whisking him away. But before leaving, they brutally beat up Jahanzaib in front of his parents and the neighbourhood, smashing his head to the wall at one point during the torturous beating. He was left bleeding with a fractured skull and unconscious. Jahanzaib was taken to Karachi for immediate treatment, which saved his life but he was never normal after this round of torture. He suffered from seizures and psychological issues.
Nearly, a year after the bout of torture and his near escape from death, Jahanzaib was whisked away on 2 February 2021 from Chitkan bazar in Panjgur. He was travelling back to his house along with his father when army men travelling in a civil Toyota corolla car and a Suzuki Jimney stopped them on the road and took Jahanzaib along with them on gunpoint.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) released a statement yesterday, in which they claimed to have arrested Jahanzaib from Sariab road Quetta along with weapons. The CTD also claimed to have arrested another person, Syed Owais Shah, along with him.
The family has rebutted the CTD claims saying that Jahanzaib is a minor, student and a torture victim of the Pakistani army. He is being framed in a false case, primarily to punish the extended family as some members of the family are involved in struggle for the Baloch people´s right.
It is also worth mentioning that Syed Owais Shah´s father held a press conference and rebutted the CTD claims. He claimed that his son was also whisked away from Panjgur and falsely framed by the CTD.
CTD is blamed as doing the army´s and ISI´s “dirty work”. It is the same department which falsely claimed to have killed five Baloch youths in an encounter on 7th March 2021 in Isplinji area of Mastung, while, in fact the youths were previously forcibly disappeared by the ISI many months ago.
Analysts believe that after the army´s heinous crimes were continuously brought into light, and it had started to receive a bad name and criticism in Panjab due to its brutalities and human rights violations in Balochistan, it has started this new tactic of using CTD for collective punishment, torture, harassment and human rights violations in Balochistan.
