The Pakistani security forces are reportedly conducting large-scale military operations in several areas of Balochistan. The forces were reportedly confronted by the Baloch insurgents during a military operation in Kohlu which, as the insurgents claim, has been “thwarted.”

According to the details, the Pakistani security forces are conducting a military operation in Kharan, Harnai and Awaran.

The sources say that in Kulan area of district Kharan, the forces reportedly raided several houses and cordoned off the entire area. Transportation has also been shut down. The forces have also detained two individuals and moved them to an unknown location.

The forces are also conducting an operation in the mountains of Harnai district where military choppers have been seen circulating the area. The transportation in Harnai has also been shut down. The authorities have not yet addressed the ongoing operations.

The forces have besieged several areas in district Awaran where a large-scale military operation is in continuation. A large convoy of the security forces has been seen advancing towards the mountains.

In district Kohlu, the Pakistani security forces were reportedly carrying out an operation when they clashed with the Baloch insurgents in the mountains. The sources say that the security forces advanced into Beji Kor – an area sandwiched between Sibi and Kohlu – where they confronted the Baloch insurgents belonging to the “pro-independence” armed group United Baloch Army. Reinforcements and gunship helicopters were summoned at the site where they carried out a heavy shelling. There are no reports of fatalities on both sides.

The United Baloch Army confirmed the confrontation in a media statement, saying that the Pakistani security forces attempted to besiege their camp in the Beji Kor area of Kohlu. The statement read that the forces also had land and air assistance – the gunship choppers bombarded the area, whereas the land forces repeatedly fired mortars at the hideout.

The statement further said that the insurgents employed a commendable strategy to defend themselves and successfully “thwarted” the attack.
