Three residents of Punjab province of Pakistan, were gunned down in Balochistan’s Kalat district, on Sunday night.
The incident took place last night in Khorasani area of Mangochar Tehsil. Unidentified armed armed men attacked the people working on a tube well machinery in the area. The deceased belonged to the Rahim Yar Khan area of Punjab.
According to Levies officials, the shooting took place around 2 am. The assailants fled after the incident while the forces cordoned off the area and started searching for attackers.
Later on Monday, responsibility of the attack was claimed by a Baloch armed group, United Baloch Army (UBA). Mazar Baloch, the spokesman for the group said in a press release that UBA fighters shot killed Pakistani intelligence agents during a raid in Killi Khorasani area of Mangochar in Kalat. The attack resulted in killing three agents on the spot and injured one while trying to flee. “Our organisation, the United Baloch Army, claims responsibility for the attack,” he said.
The spokesperson further stated that the said persons belonged to Punjab who had been seen in various areas including Mangchar for the last several days. Upon receiving information, they were placed on our watch list. After the investigation, we learnt that they are Pakistani under cover agents. Therefor, they were attacked last night, he added.
In another news, a man was shot dead by armed motorcyclists in Panjgur district of Balochistan, on Monday.
The incident took place at a football ground in Isa-Kahan-Zangi area of Panjgur where Sabir Ahmed son of Noorullah was killed.
According to sources, the man was affiliated to a government-backed group, locally known as ‘Death Squads’. In the past for such incidents, Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibilities; but no one has yet taken the credit for this attack.
