The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Balochistan’s district Kohlu has cancelled fake domicile certificates of 22 people.

According to sources from DC office, the 22 fake domicile certificates were invalidated after a thorough inspection, the fake domicile holders had obtained jobs in various departments, on Balochistan’s job quota.

The accused were said to be performing in different federal departments in Kohlu. After annulling the certificated the DC has written to the concerned departments.

In June this year, District Mastung’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) canceled domiciles of 400 people who had obtained jobs in the federal government departments on Balochistan’s quota. This development came after the Balochistan’s Governor office sent lists of people employed in the federal government against Balochistan’s quota to all DCs, in March 2019.

Not only Mastung and Kohlu, but the DC Quetta, the capital and DC Musakhail have also cancelled numbers of fake domiciles.

There are a few thousand employees in the federal government on Balochistan’s quota. If 400 of them from a small district like Mastung are not bona fide residents of the province, then it hints towards the scale of the problem across Balochistan. The figure of 400 domiciles canceled from Mastung alone is just a tip of the iceberg because there are 33 districts in total in Balochistan.

According to a local news agency, holders of these bogus domiciles used these documents to apply for jobs and scholarships on the Balochistan quota. It is easier for them to get a job on Balochistan’s quota as opposed to Punjab, for instance. While these people enjoyed the privileges of federal government jobs or foreign scholarships, the underprivileged youth in Balochistan was trying unsuccessfully to earn the same privileges.

The Balochistan High Court had ordered the Commissioners and DCs to submit reports about fake domiciles in the court. Whereas, the Chief Minister of Balochistan has also directed the Deputy Commissioners to accelerate the process and ensure the cancelation of fake domiciles.
