Pakistani forces continue operations in different areas of Sindh, Sindhi nationalist leaders are being abducted forcefully, VMPS said.
The statement released by the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh says that Pakistani forces have been raiding the homes of political activists across Sindh for past two days, arresting them and making them disappear. According to reports received so far, more than 50 Sindhi nationalists have been arrested and disappeared.
According to the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, Pakistani forces conducted a search operation at the houses of Sindhi nationalist leader Asghar Shah’s brothers, sisters, uncles and other close relatives from Syed Mohalla in Dokri city of Larkana and subjected women and children to severe torture.
During the operation, forces arrested the nationalist leader Asghar Shah’s cousin Zahid Shah, nephew Imdad Shah, and a relative Rashid Shah and transferred them to an unknown location, statement read
Whereas, the rangers, police and intelligence agencies raided the house of another nationalist leader, Zulfiqar Khaskheli’s brother in Jamshoro. Forces ransacked the house, and children were severely tortured, and the brother of nationalist leader was taken into custody and disappeared subsequently, VMPS said.
According to the statement, forces have abducted several political activists and transferred them to an unknown places, in which Jiye Sindh Student Federation’s Leader Hafeez Peerzado, Aashiq Jatoi, Toufeeq Jatoi, and Faheem Jatoi are included.
The statement further said that the forces have arrested and disappeared several nationalist activists from Karachi as well as other areas of Sindh. Ali Bhutto from Karachi and Israr Ghoto from Ghotki, Kashif Ghoto and Akhtar Bozdar have gone missing after being arrested by the forces.
According to the convener of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, Sorth Lohar, arrests and disappearances of Sindhi nationalist activists continue for past several days by state forces in many cities of Sindh. The convener of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, Sorth Lohar has strongly condemned the state operations against political activists across Sindh and expressed fear that the situation in Sindh could aggravate.
Miss Lohar has appealed to human rights organizations to take notice of state operations against Sindhi political activists.
It may be recalled that the past few days, a Sindhi pro-independence armed group had targeted Pakistani forces in Karachi, the capital of Sindh, and other cities. The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) has claimed the responsibility for the attacks.
The news of the arrests and abductions of activists across Sindh, comes after the attacks on forces. Many Sindhi activists and leaders have been reported missing in the past as well.
Authorities have not yet commented on recent arrests and raids by the security forces.
