The administrative officials in Balochistan have announced to extend lockdown till May 19.
Liaqat Shahwani, the spokesman of Balochistan government, has said that that the number of growing cases of the virus in Balochistan are alarming. He was addressing media in Quetta.
“In view of the current situation it has been decided to extend the ongoing lockdown across Balochistan till May 19,” he confirmed.
According to Liaqat Shahwani Balochistan has a shortage of ventilators, and the National Disaster Manager Authority (NDMA) has been requested to provide more ventilators.
He said that the rate at which the number of people have been infected with the Corona virus in the province is alarming. Therefore, the province will continue to be under lockdown till May 19. “We will also ensure implementation of the lockdown and punitive action will be taken against the violators,” he added.
“The decision for the extension of lock down has been taken for the safety of citizens.
“There is dire need for ventilators for Corona patients. At the moment we do not have and therefore we requested NDMA to provide more ventilators. From the day one we are trying in this regard and testing is being done with 2 PCR machines in Balochistan. Implementation of lockdown and SOPs is a matter of urgency. Without it, prevention of this global epidemic will not be possible,” he maintained.
