Residents of Killi Sasoli Town in Balochistan’s Nushki district have demanded urgent completion of their school building and the provision of basic facilities, warning of peaceful protests if the delays continue.
Around 70 to 80 children attend the school, but have no clean drinking water or toilets, residents said. The unfinished building also lacks doors, a boundary wall and a main gate, leaving them concerned about the children’s safety.
Residents blamed the contractor for leaving construction incomplete and said the school’s condition raised questions about the performance of the relevant departments. They called for a transparent investigation into the delays and action under the rules if negligence was established.
They urged the Balochistan Education Department to complete the building immediately, provide drinking water and toilets on an emergency basis, and ensure the installation of doors and construction of a boundary wall and main gate.
The residents also raised concerns about alleged corruption, poor allocation of funds and funding shortages in the education system. They said dilapidated buildings, missing facilities and delayed repairs at schools across Balochistan were undermining children’s right to education, and demanded a transparent audit of education budgets and development funds.
Without transparency in the use of those funds, future generations would continue to suffer, they said.
Appealing to the chief minister, education minister, education secretary and Nushki district administration, residents said education was “every child’s fundamental right” and negligence in ensuring it was “unacceptable under any circumstances”.
They said they reserved the right to hold peaceful protests to protect their children’s future if construction and the provision of basic facilities were delayed further.
