The Balochistan National Party (BNP) has condemned moves to evict more than 30,000 Baloch from their ancestral homes and relocate them to camps, demanding an immediate halt and saying Balochistan’s problems could not be resolved through force and repression.
In a statement issued by its central leadership, the party called the measures “a grave violation of human rights, civil liberties and fundamental rights” and demanded clarification of the affected families’ situation.
The BNP said people in Balochistan were already facing unrest, insecurity and deprivation, and that depriving thousands of families of their homes amounted to “rubbing salt into their wounds”. If reports of the eviction and relocation of more than 30,000 people were correct, it said, they represented a “serious humanitarian crisis” requiring immediate attention.
The party blamed what it called the misguided policies, injustices and repression of rulers who came to power through “Form 47” for Balochistan’s current crisis. It warned that further coercive measures would deepen mistrust between the public and the state.
Transparent and impartial investigations were needed, the BNP said, calling for protection of the affected families’ lives, property and fundamental rights, and legal action against anyone involved in unlawful measures.
The party said it would not remain silent over injustice, forced eviction and human rights violations against the Baloch people. Balochistan’s problems required justice, constitutional and legal safeguards, respect for people’s rights and protection of fundamental freedoms, it said.
The BNP demanded an immediate halt to the eviction and relocation measures, saying lasting peace could not be achieved without justice.
Shoor Paarod Evacuation Order
The statement comes after the Balochistan government ordered approximately 5,000 families, comprising around 30,000 people, to leave Kalat’s mountainous Shoor Paarod area by October 30 ahead of a planned military operation.
Additional Chief Secretary for Home Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat warned of administrative action against families that failed to relocate.
Officials claimed the area was government land and said the planned operation was prompted by the presence of armed fighters.
