The family of a 24-year-old man from Kech has alleged that he died in the custody of Pakistani forces after being detained in Turbat earlier this month and that his body has not been returned to them.
Changez, son of Muhammad Ibrahim and a resident of Alandur, was taken into custody by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel from Apsar, Turbat, at around 11pm on September 4, according to his family.
His relatives said they received no information about his whereabouts after the detention and considered him forcibly disappeared.
Family sources alleged that Changez had previously faced pressure from Pakistani intelligence agencies to provide information about Baloch political activists.
The family said they contacted various institutions and individuals seeking information about him, but were later informed by Pakistani forces that Changez had died while in custody and had already been buried.
According to the family, they were shown a photograph of his body but the remains were not handed over to them.
Pakistani authorities have not publicly commented on the allegations.
The case comes amid continuing allegations of deaths in custody and the burial of people reported missing after detention in Balochistan.
Last month, United Nations experts called for an independent investigation into the case of Imran Ali, who was allegedly taken into custody by Counter-Terrorism Department personnel in Quetta on August 27, 2025, and remained missing for nearly a year.
During a hearing before Pakistan’s Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances on August 6, a police officer said Ali had been killed in an alleged encounter in May. Authorities later said his remains had been buried after they were unable to preserve them.
Ali’s family subsequently identified him from photographs held at Civil Hospital in Quetta, according to the UN experts.
The experts called for a “prompt, thorough, independent and impartial investigation” into his enforced disappearance and death, including the circumstances of his detention, reported killing and burial, and the proper identification and return of his remains.
They also raised broader concerns over alleged enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
