The Jaffar Express service between Quetta and Peshawar has been suspended for two days amid security concerns, according to railway officials.
The service will remain suspended on 5 and 6 September, with operations reportedly limited to Jacobabad during this period.
Passengers have expressed concern over the repeated disruption of train services, saying frequent suspensions are affecting their travel plans and causing financial hardship.
Railway sources said the latest suspension was linked to security concerns related to the presence of security personnel travelling on passenger trains, amid fears of possible attacks.
The suspension comes after a series of security incidents involving railway services in Balochistan. In March 2025, the Jaffar Express was attacked and hijacked by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a “pro-independence” Baloch armed group. Earlier this year, an attack on a military shuttle train reportedly killed several personnel.
Authorities have not provided further details regarding the duration of the latest restrictions or indicated when full service between Quetta and Peshawar will resume.
