The Jaffar Express service from Quetta to Peshawar will remain suspended for two days because of security concerns in Balochistan, Pakistan Railways officials said.
“There will be no train from Quetta to Peshawar on 25 and 26 August,” the officials said.
They added that passengers affected by the cancellations had been refunded the cost of their tickets.
The Quetta-bound service from Peshawar was also terminated at Jacobabad railway station, causing difficulties for passengers travelling onwards to Balochistan.
Passengers expressed concern over the repeated disruption of train services, saying frequent cancellations were affecting their travel plans and causing financial losses and stress.
They called on railway authorities to take effective measures to ensure the regular operation of passenger trains.
Sources said the services were suspended amid fears of attacks, as Pakistani military personnel also travel aboard passenger trains operating through Balochistan.
The Jaffar Express has been targeted several times in the past. In March 2025, fighters of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked the train in Bolan and held more than 200 people it identified as Pakistani military personnel for three days.The BLA later claimed to have executed the captives after negotiations over a proposed prisoner exchange failed.
