The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said on Thursday its fighters had blocked a highway in Balochistan’s Sibi district and disabled a large vehicle carrying minerals, a day after the group claimed attacks on a supply vehicle and electricity transmission towers in nearby Naseerabad district.
In a statement sent to the media, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the group’s fighters set up a blockade on a highway in the Bakhtiarabad area of Sibi on Wednesday and searched vehicles passing through the route.
He said a large vehicle transporting minerals was disabled by gunfire during the blockade.
In a separate statement, the BRG said its fighters had set up a checkpoint near Bakhtiarabad on Tuesday and opened fire on the tyres of a supply vehicle.
The same statement said two major electricity transmission towers near Chhattar Road, within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station in Dera Murad Jamali, Naseerabad, were targeted with explosives.
The BRG said the towers were part of a transmission line carrying electricity from the Uch Power Plant. It added that one tower collapsed completely while the other was severely damaged.
The group said such operations would continue “until the independence of Balochistan.”
Pakistani authorities have not issued an immediate statement on the reported attacks.
