Two young men have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance from the Sariab area of Quetta after being taken into custody by Pakistani forces, according to their family and a statement issued by the National Party.

Family members said Agha Shahid Ali and Agha Lal Shah were detained late last night by Pakistani forces and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location. Since their detention, no information regarding their whereabouts or condition has been made available, the family stated.

In a statement, the central spokesperson of the National Party said the two individuals are nephews of Agha Muhammad Shah, the party’s deputy president for Tehsil Sariab. The spokesperson alleged that the youths were taken into custody by security forces in violation of constitutional and legal procedures.

The statement further said the two young men belong to a respected family in Sariab and argued that if they had been wanted in any legal case, the family should have been formally informed and the arrests carried out in accordance with the law. The party described the manner of detention as concerning and termed the situation a matter requiring serious reflection.

The National Party called on authorities to immediately and safely recover Agha Shahid Ali and Agha Lal Shah, urging officials to end the family’s distress by clarifying their status and ensuring their release in accordance with legal procedures.
