The Balochistan Health Department has ordered an immediate inquiry into an alleged harassment incident reported at Bolan Medical College (BMC) in Quetta.
According to the department, it took notice of allegations circulating on social media that a faculty member had harassed a female student. In response, a formal letter was issued to the principal of Bolan Medical College on 13 November 2025, directing the institution to conduct a prompt and transparent investigation. A copy of the initial information related to the incident was attached to the letter.
The Health Department instructed the principal to carry out a thorough, impartial, and urgent inquiry and to submit a report, along with clear recommendations, within three days to enable further action.
The letter stated that the matter was of a serious nature and should therefore be handled with priority and on an emergency basis.
The development follows a protest announcement by students a day earlier, during which they raised concerns about harassment incidents and inadequate facilities at the institution. Students demanded a safe academic and hostel environment, reforms in the viva examination pattern, and accountability for those involved in inappropriate behaviour.
