A senior Pakistan Army officer reportedly was killed during an exchange of fire with militants in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
According to reports, Major Sibtain of the 4th Punjab Regiment, who was critically injured during in an operation in Musazai Sharif area of Dera Ismail Khan succumbed to injuries at the Cantonment Military Hospital (CMH). He was a resident of Alamdar Road in Quetta.
No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army’s media wing, has not yet released an official statement.

Official figures indicate that this incident marks the 19th death of a senior rank Pakistan Army officer in militant attacks reported this year across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The casualties include one Lieutenant Colonel, eleven Majors, four Captains and three Lieutenants.
