A young Journalist was assassinated by unidentified assailants in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to reports, unidentified armed men opened fire and killed a journalist named Kamran Khan in Tapi area of North Waziristan. The attackers fled after the shooting.

The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. However, Mohsin Dawar, a former member of Pakistan’s National Assembly, confirmed the incident in a post on Tuesday, adding that Kamran had faced death threats for his critical views against militancy.

It’s worth mentioning that Pakistan ranks 145 in the Press Freedom Index of Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a global media watchdog. RSF says that journalists in Pakistan have become prime targets of the country’s “deep state”.
