Pasni Fish Harbour project crumbles after directors and managers plunder millions in funds.
The eleven-year long Pasni Fish Harbour project has drowned in corruption, the National Accountability Bureau of Pakistan has revealed. The NAB has registered a case against the project director Muneer Ahmed, Ali Gull Kurd, Deputy Project Director Abdul Rab and several others for plundering the project funds for personal gain.
The NAB said that the Japan-funded Pasni Fish Harbour project has drastically failed because the necessary funds were plundered by the project managers. A case was filed against the project director and his underlings in Quetta.
The NAB said that Japan had granted 800 million rupees to the Balochistan government for the construction of the Pasni Fish Harbour. The government developed a building strategy in 2010 and the construction work officially began in 2015.
320 million rupees were abstracted out of the funds, leaving the harbour lacking many of its essential infrastructure. The project has now completely failed.
