Pakistani state has increased the security of Chinese workers in Saindak project after the suicide attack on engineers.

According to the details received by The Balochistan Post, Security of Chinese citizens working on the Saindak project in Balochistan has been tighten up after the suicide attack on Chinese engineers in Dalbandain on Saturday 11 August.

Patrolling, checking and surveillance by security forces, including Frontier corps, Police and Levies have been increased around the Saindak project. Furthermore, security of important installations and government buildings have also been increased, while the high alert has also been declared in Dalbandain city and surrounding areas.

Earlier after the suicide attack, the spokesman of the Baloch Liberation Army, Jeehand Baloch had said that if China does not withdraw from exploitation projects, then they will not be spared from BLA attacks. ‘We will intensify our attacks as much as possible and will bring radical changes in the nature of our attacks.

Saindak Copper-Gold Mine is located near Saindak town in Chagai District of Balochistan. The discovery of copper and gold deposits at Saindak was made in the 1970s in collaboration of Pakistan and a Chinese engineering firm.

Baloch political parties and nationalists claim that Pakistan and China are plundering their national wealth without their consent and local people are not receiving any benefits, not even basic facilities of life.

The top commander of Baloch Liberation Army, Aslam Baloch, had said in a recently released statement that “if China for its petty interests can help Pakistan ‘shed the blood’ of innocent Baloch civilians, then we as a nation cannot be unwary of our responsibilities to achieve Balochistan’s independence and protect its resources and people”.

Aslam Baloch’s strong-worded statement came only a day after his son, Rehan Baloch, carried out a ‘suicide attack’ on a bus carrying Chinese engineers in Dalbandain, in which, as per hospital sources, four including three Chinese nationals had died.
