The Hub Chowki Police disrupted a two-day book fair organized by the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) in front of the Lasbela Press Club, shutting down stalls and allegedly harassing attendees.
According to BSAC, police officers deployed in large numbers removed the book displays, claiming that the event did not have the required permission to take place outside the press club. When asked to provide written orders or an official letter, a police officer reportedly stated, “I am the letter.”
Organizers have decried the police action, describing it as an attack on education and a deliberate effort to deter Baloch students from academic pursuits. They believe such actions are part of a broader strategy to marginalize students in the region.
In a statement, BSAC’s central spokesperson condemned the police’s behavior, vowing to continue their efforts to spread knowledge. “These actions will not weaken our resolve,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing their commitment to promoting education despite the challenges.
