An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and subsequently killed, with three suspects arrested in connection with the case, according to police.

The incident occurred in the Ahmadwal area on the outskirts of Nushki. The girl was reportedly from Dalbandin in neighbouring Chagai district.

Relatives said the girl had travelled with her mother to her maternal grandfather’s home in Ahmadwal following a death in the family.

The girl was reported missing on Sunday morning. A relative, Nadir Ali, said the family searched for her for several hours before local children reported seeing a girl in bushes in the area.

According to Ali, the family subsequently found the girl’s body partially buried beneath bushes and soil. He said there were visible signs of injuries on her face and body.

The body was taken to Nushki, where police registered a case before transferring it to Quetta for a post-mortem examination.

Nushki Superintendent of Police Saleem Shahwani told the media that the doctor who examined the body concluded that the girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted before being killed.

Shahwani said police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report. According to police, local children told investigators that the girl had last been seen in the company of a boy.

Police subsequently detained the boy, who allegedly confessed during questioning and reportedly told investigators that he and two other individuals had sexually assaulted the girl before killing her. The alleged confession has not been independently verified, and the suspects have not been convicted by a court of law.

The girl’s uncle, speaking to the media at Civil Hospital Quetta, called for justice and urged the authorities to ensure that those arrested are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said he had taken notice of the incident and sought reports from the Nushki Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Inspector General of Police for Rakhshan Division.
