Jumma Khan Nechari has accused Pakistani forces of forcibly disappearing his wife, daughter and granddaughter after taking them from a passenger van at the Lak Pass checkpoint while they were travelling from Kalat to Quetta.

Speaking at the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons’ protest camp outside the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, Jumma Khan identified the three women as his wife, Bibi Rafia, his daughter, Bibi Tania, and his granddaughter, Javeria.

He said Pakistani forces stopped the passenger van at around 3:00pm on July 30, took the three women into custody and subsequently moved them to an undisclosed location.

Jumma Khan said he had contacted the relevant administration and senior officials several times and had also lodged a complaint at the CCPO office, but had received no information about their condition or whereabouts.

The cases were raised as the VBMP protest camp against enforced disappearances outside the Quetta Press Club marked its 6,313th day on Saturday.

VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said the organisation would raise the cases with the government, the commission on missing persons and institutions responsible for the provision of justice, adding that it would pursue their safe recovery through all available constitutional and legal forums.

He called on the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court and the Chief Minister of Balochistan to take immediate notice of the alleged enforced disappearance of three women from the same family, order a transparent investigation and take effective measures to ensure their safe recovery.

Pakistani authorities had not responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
