The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released details of 38 operations it said were carried out across Balochistan between August 1 and August 8, claiming that more than 32 Pakistani military personnel and alleged operatives were killed and dozens of others wounded.
In a detailed statement issued to the media on August 11, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters targeted Pakistani military convoys, vehicles, camps and foot patrols, as well as trade routes, bridges, railway infrastructure, police posts and vehicles transporting minerals and other goods.
The group claimed several armoured and military vehicles, a quadcopter, bridges and a railway track were destroyed during the operations. It also said military equipment was seized and an alleged Military Intelligence operative in its custody was executed.
According to the statement, the attacks began on August 1, when BLA fighters targeted four Pakistani military armoured vehicles with rockets and other heavy weapons in the Dasht area of Kalat, allegedly causing extensive damage.
The same night, the group said its fighters attacked Pakistani military foot patrol personnel in the Kund Umrani area of Mastung, killing at least two and wounding several others.
On August 2, the BLA said its fighters attacked Pakistani forces attempting to advance into the Sechi area of Washuk, killing two personnel.
The group also claimed an attack on a Pakistani military convoy and vehicles transporting minerals on the Quetta-Taftan route in the Nokchah area of Chagai, saying two vehicles were severely damaged.
The statement detailed several operations carried out on August 3, including the seizure of a police checkpoint in the Nami area of Bela on the Quetta-Karachi highway.
The BLA said nine police personnel were detained and their weapons and motorcycles seized. It said all but the checkpoint in-charge, Sub-Inspector Gulab, were later released, while Gulab remained in the group’s custody for interrogation.
The same day, BLA fighters targeted two large Pakistani military convoys and accompanying commercial vehicles in the Jojki area of Chagai, the statement said.
The group claimed one military vehicle was destroyed by a rocket and another was directly hit, killing nine personnel and wounding several others. Several commercial vehicles accompanying the convoys were also targeted.
The BLA said its fighters separately took control of the trade route in Nokchah and conducted snap checks, setting fire to one commercial vehicle and damaging another with gunfire. Two drivers were detained and later released after questioning.
Another unit targeted a convoy belonging to the Saindak Project and other commercial vehicles at Chehatar, seizing one vehicle, according to the statement.
The group also claimed responsibility for destroying a railway track near Musa Colony in Quetta with explosives and firing multiple grenade launcher rounds at a Pakistani military post in Alandur, Buleda.
On August 4, the BLA said its fighters destroyed a bridge on the trade route near Jojki in the Yakmach area of Chagai and later ambushed Pakistani forces and commercial vehicles at the same location.
The group said the attack continued for about 40 minutes, claiming several Pakistani military personnel were killed and a quadcopter was shot down.
Two military supply vehicles were also targeted with explosives in the Sabuni area of Zamuran, leaving both severely damaged, the statement said.
The BLA also claimed an attack on Pakistani forces near Bab-e-Kharan outside Kharan city and the destruction of a bridge at Sotkan on the Kharan-Quetta route.
The statement said attacks continued on August 5 in the Bartagzi area of Dalbandin and near the Gas Plant on the Quetta-Taftan route, where Pakistani military personnel and a convoy were targeted.
The group said its fighters later ambushed two Pakistani military vehicles at Sultan Charhai near Noshki, adding that one vehicle was directly hit, killing two personnel and wounding at least four others.
The BLA said it had carried out another attack at the same location on July 23, in which it claimed three Pakistani military personnel were killed and three others wounded.
Separately, the group said it executed Ahmed, son of Rabnawaz and a resident of Lodhran in Punjab, after detaining him in Bela. The BLA accused him of working as an operative for Pakistan’s Military Intelligence.
On August 6, BLA fighters attacked a Pakistani military convoy in Chehatar, Dalbandin, causing damage, the statement said.
The group said another unit took control of the Kharan-Quetta route between Albat and Patkin and conducted snap checks for several hours. Pakistani military foot patrol personnel were also attacked in the Dali area of Kharan, killing one member of the military, according to the BLA.
The same day, the group said its fighters took control of a cargo bus and detained its drivers on the trade route in Nokchah, Dalbandin. The drivers were later released.
Three cargo vehicles were also rendered unusable after their tyres were targeted with gunfire in Chehatar Bazaar, the statement said.
On August 7, the BLA said its aerial and drone warfare unit, “Qahar”, targeted a Pakistani military camp at Sultan Charhai in Noshki, allegedly causing damage.
The group also claimed that its fighters fired multiple grenade launcher rounds at a Pakistani military post in the Zoomdan area of Buleda.
The final operations listed for the period took place on August 8.
The BLA said its fighters targeted a vehicle belonging to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) with a remote-controlled improvised explosive device in the Radig area of Mand, destroying the vehicle and causing several casualties.
In Marjan, Kalat, BLA fighters ambushed an armoured vehicle and another Pakistani military vehicle, the statement said. The group claimed one vehicle was severely damaged and three military personnel were killed.
The BLA also claimed a combined explosive and armed attack on a Pakistani military vehicle in Siya Pusht, Mastung, as well as a separate attack on Pakistani forces in the Dasht area.
Two Pakistani military vehicles were targeted in another armed attack in the Dorrwa area of Kharan, allegedly causing casualties.
The group said its fighters also seized goods stored under a government scheme in Killa Abdullah. Pakistani forces and members of what the BLA described as a “death squad” subsequently attempted to advance into the area and were ambushed.
According to the statement, two of eight vehicles involved in the advance were directly hit. The BLA said its fighters launched another attack at the same location that night, claiming nine people were killed in the two attacks, most of them alleged “death squad” members.
The statement also provided details of clashes in Jalgi, Zamuran, on July 29.
The BLA said the clashes began when Pakistani forces attempted to advance into the area, claiming several military personnel were killed or wounded.
Two BLA fighters, identified as Abid-ur-Rehman alias Rehman and Hamdan alias Marwan, were killed during the fighting.
The BLA paid tribute to the two fighters and said their deaths would strengthen its campaign.
“The blood of the martyrs and their message will remain a guiding beacon for the movement,” the statement said, adding that the group would continue its operations until what it described as the “complete independence of Balochistan”.
