Five more Baloch individuals, including two brothers and two students, were reported missing after separate detentions in Balochistan and Punjab, while three previously disappeared men were released in recent days, local sources and families said.
Sources said two brothers were detained from their home in Mastung at around 4:00am on July 3 and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location.
They were identified as Sanaullah Baloch, son of Sher Ahmed Baloch, a 25-year-old police department employee, and Khalil Baloch, son of Sher Ahmed Baloch, a 38-year-old property dealer.
Meanwhile, Bakhtiyar Baloch, son of Mir Khan Baloch, a 23-year-old student and resident of Barkhan district, was reportedly detained from Nishtar Hospital in Multan, Punjab, on July 10 and subsequently disappeared.
In another case, Saeed Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, a 19-year-old labourer from Surab, was reportedly detained and subsequently disappeared on July 12.
A report also emerged that Noor Zeb, son of Dost Mohammad, a 17-year-old resident of Mangochar in Kalat district and a first-year FSc student, was forcibly disappeared from Sariab Road in Quetta on June 12.
Families and local activists say many cases of enforced disappearance do not become public immediately because relatives face pressure and fear possible consequences, resulting in some detentions being reported several days or weeks later.
Amid the latest cases, three men previously subjected to alleged enforced disappearance were released during July.
Dilshad Baloch, son of Nazar Mohammad Baloch and a resident of Kohlu, was released in Rakhni, Barkhan, on July 24, a week after he was disappeared on July 17.
Similarly, Aziz Baloch, son of Mohammad Sultan and a resident of Quetta’s Sariab area, was released on July 24 after being subjected to enforced disappearance for the second time a day earlier.
Gul Mohammad, son of Mohammad Jan and a resident of Surab, was released in Surab on July 26. He had been missing since his reported detention on July 12.
VBMP Protest Camp Continues for 6,310th Day
The latest cases emerged as the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) continued its protest camp against enforced disappearances outside the Quetta Press Club for the 6,310th day on Wednesday.
Ghulam Abbas Qambrani, the father of Hammal Khan Qambrani and Bebarg Qambrani, joined the protest camp and called for the recovery of his son Bebarg.
Hammal Khan was detained at the Daghari checkpoint in Mastung’s Dasht area on December 5, 2025, and subsequently disappeared, his father said.
After nearly eight months, his whereabouts became known when his detention was formally acknowledged and the family was informed that he was being held at Hudda Jail in Quetta, he added.
His brother, Bebarg Qambrani, was detained from a wedding ceremony in Quetta’s Killi Qambrani area on the same day and remains missing.
The family said it had received no information regarding his condition or whereabouts and demanded that he be produced immediately.
According to the VBMP, the cases of both brothers were submitted to the commission on missing persons and the Balochistan government, after which notices were issued directing the relevant institutions to provide information about them and ensure their recovery.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch welcomed the acknowledgement of Hammal Khan’s detention, saying it had provided the family with “some relief from the anguish of enforced disappearance”.
He expressed hope that institutions responsible for delivering justice would ensure fair legal proceedings in Hammal Khan’s case.
Nasrullah Baloch demanded that Bebarg Qambrani and all other missing persons be produced before a court if they face any allegations, while those not accused of any offence should be released immediately.
He also called on the government to take effective and practical measures to end enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
