A Pakistani soldier injured in last month’s attack on a military shuttle train in Quetta has died of his wounds, relatives confirmed on Wednesday.

The soldier was identified as Sabir Dogar, a Pakistan Army personnel from Okara district in Punjab. He had been receiving treatment in hospital after being wounded in the attack.

The attack took place at Chaman Phatak in Quetta, where a shuttle train carrying Pakistani military personnel from Quetta Cantonment towards the railway station was targeted.

Reports at the time said three coaches of the train were destroyed in the attack.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility at the time, saying the attack was carried out by Bilal Shahwani, a member of its Majeed Brigade.

The group said the target was a military shuttle train used to transport Pakistani army personnel and claimed 82 personnel were killed on the spot and more than 121 others injured.

The BLA also said the operation was carried out with intelligence support from its intelligence wing, “ZIRAB.”

Several injured personnel were shifted to hospitals after the attack, and a number of them have reportedly died of their wounds since then.
