Armed fighters took control of several government installations in Naal on Monday, local sources said, as clashes between fighters and Pakistani forces continued in Zehri and Kalat following days of attacks on military advances.

Local sources and eyewitnesses said the fighters had taken control of government offices, banks, Levies centres and police stations in the Naal area.

They said some government buildings were later set on fire, with plumes of smoke seen rising from different parts of the area.

Eyewitnesses said gunfire and clashes were heard intermittently at several locations throughout the day.

No confirmed information was immediately available regarding casualties or injuries in Naal.

The situation comes after days of fighting in nearby areas, where Pakistani forces have repeatedly come under attack while attempting to advance in military vehicles and on foot.

On Sunday, local sources said Pakistani forces came under renewed attack in the Balbal area of Zehri after attempting to move into the area with several vehicles, including armoured vehicles and tanks.

The convoy was attacked from different directions, after which clashes continued for much of the day, the sources said.

The attackers also seized weapons and ammunition belonging to the forces. Authorities have not released details regarding casualties or material losses.

The latest clashes in Zehri follow an earlier attack in the same area last week, when Baloch Raji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, said its fighters ambushed a military convoy in Balbal, killing eight personnel and destroying one vehicle.

Meanwhile, in Balochistan’s Kalat district, Pakistani forces were attacked a day earlier in the Iskalku area, where local sources told The Balochistan Post that army personnel on foot were ambushed while advancing as part of a military operation.

Sources said several personnel were killed and injured, forcing the troops to retreat.

After the initial attack, Pakistani forces again attempted to advance in vehicles, leading to prolonged clashes in the area.

According to sources, three military vehicles came under direct attack, while the attackers seized one vehicle along with military equipment.

There were also reports that an armoured vehicle belonging to the forces was damaged during the clashes.

Local sources said gunship helicopters and drones later carried out shelling and bombardment in the area, targeting several locations.

Pakistani authorities have not issued a detailed official statement on the clashes in Naal, Zehri or Kalat.
