A lecturer was killed and another seriously injured after unidentified armed men opened fire in front of the University of Balochistan sub-campus in Kharan, according to local sources.
Reports indicate that the attackers targeted two faculty members in front of the campus, firing multiple shots at them.
As a result of the shooting, Professor Dilawar, also known as K.D., was killed at the scene, while Professor Bilal Ahmed Gichki sustained critical injuries. He was later shifted to Quetta for further medical treatment due to the severity of his condition.
Some local residents alleged that the attackers were affiliated with a government-backed militia group that has previously been accused of involvement in killings and other criminal activities in the area. However, these claims could not be independently verified.
Following the incident, students gathered on nearby roads and staged protests against the attack. Further details about the motive behind the shooting were not immediately available.
