Armed fighters set up a checkpoint on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway in Khuzdar’s Karkh tehsil on Monday, where two men alleged to be linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency were shot dead and another was detained, local sources said.
The sources said the fighters blocked the road and stopped vehicles for inspection during the checkpoint operation.
They said two men alleged to have links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were shot dead after attempting to flee, while a third individual was taken into custody. The sources added that Pakistani forces later moved towards the area, triggering heavy clashes.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the Khuzdar incident. The development comes days after fighters of the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) entered Karkh town on March 4 and damaged police stations and other government property.
Attacks Reported in Kech
In a separate development, a vehicle belonging to a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy was targeted with explosive material in the Tejaban area of Kech, official sources said.
The blast damaged the vehicle and injured two personnel, who were shifted to a nearby medical facility.
Local sources also said armed men attacked two Pakistani military checkposts in the Aapsi Kahn and Shepchar areas of Kech.
According to the sources, the attackers carried out simultaneous assaults on the two positions, seized weapons and other equipment, and later set both checkposts on fire.
Pakistani authorities did not immediately confirm the reports.
BLF and BRG Claim Attacks
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for two attacks in Kech carried out on 7 and 8 March.
In a media statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said fighters targeted the joint Frontier Corps and Airport Security Force checkpoint at the main gate of Turbat airport on 8 March by firing several grenade-launcher rounds.
“As a result of this attack, enemy personnel at the checkpoint suffered heavy casualties and material losses,” he said, adding that BLF fighters also attacked a Pakistani military camp in the Hironk area on 7 March using heavy and automatic weapons.
Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said it carried out two attacks in Quetta and Naseerabad on 8 and 9 March.
In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dosteen Baloch said the group had targeted a police patrol with a hand grenade in Quetta and later attacked a forces checkpoint in the Mir Hassan area of Naseerabad with small arms and grenade-launcher fire.
The group claimed two personnel were killed and another seriously injured in the Naseerabad attack.
Both groups said the attacks were part of what they described as an ongoing armed struggle against “occupying forces” in Balochistan.
