The United Baloch Army (UBA) on Tuesday claimed responsibility for two attacks in Kachhi and Dhadar areas of Balochistan, saying its fighters had killed an alleged state informant and a police officer.
In a statement issued to the media, UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said fighters targeted a man identified as Gull Muhammad Jattak, also known as Gulo, in the Sanni area of Kachhi on 5 February. He said the individual was shot dead at the scene and that weapons were seized from him.
According to the UBA, Jattak had been working for Pakistani intelligence agencies for several years. The group said its fighters had previously issued repeated warnings but alleged he continued providing information on the movements of Baloch fighters and was involved in the enforced disappearance of civilians and Baloch youths in the area.
The statement said that on the night between 4 and 5 February, UBA fighters encountered police personnel during a patrol near Kamri Bridge in Dhadar. The spokesperson said police opened fire and fighters returned fire, killing one police officer. The vehicle was set on fire after the exchange, the group added.
The spokesperson said such attacks would continue until the “independence of Balochistan”.
