A bullet-riddled and tortured body has been recovered from the Rakshan River in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, marking the latest in a series of bodies discovered across the area in recent days, according to local sources and police officials.
The body was found in the Sop Karki area along the Rakshan River and later shifted to Teaching Hospital Panjgur for identification. The victim has been identified as Nawab s/o Abideen, a resident of Parom. Initial reports indicate the body bore severe signs of torture, including broken arms and legs, along with visible injuries to the head. Multiple gunshot wounds were also reported.
Police confirmed the victim’s identification, while local sources said he had allegedly been detained by Pakistani forces from his home in May 2025 and had remained missing since then. Family members and residents said no information about his whereabouts had surfaced during the intervening months until the discovery of his body.
Earlier, the body of 32-year-old Pazeer Baloch, a resident of Washbod, was recovered after he had allegedly been taken into custody on 25 November 2025 by what local residents described as state-backed armed group, a “death squad.” According to local accounts, his tortured body was discovered in Washbod on 7 February 2026, nearly two months after his reported disappearance.
Local sources claim that at least six bodies have been recovered from different parts of Panjgur district within a single week. Residents allege that several of the deceased had previously been taken into custody by Pakistani forces, though officials have not publicly responded to these claims.
