A convoy of Pakistani forces was attacked in Balochistan’s Dera Murad Jamali late on Monday night, while two Baloch armed groups separately claimed responsibility for multiple attacks across several districts of Balochistan in recent days.
Local sources said unidentified armed men targeted a military convoy near the Bedar Bridge area of Dera Murad Jamali. One of the vehicles was reported to be carrying a senior officer, said to be of colonel rank.
There was no official confirmation of casualties or damage, and no group had claimed responsibility for the attack by the time of publication.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) issued a statement claiming responsibility for a series of attacks carried out between January 10 and January 19 in different parts of Balochistan.
The group said its fighters killed eight military personnel and injured four others during the operations.
According to the BLF, a sniper attack in Buleda’s Zirdan area on January 19 killed a soldier who was travelling by motorcycle to a military post. The group said further clashes followed using heavy weapons, causing additional casualties and damage.
The BLF said its fighters destroyed surveillance cameras at a checkpoint in Tump’s Mirabad area on January 18 and seized a supply vehicle carrying rations for the army between Nasirabad and Nodiz the same day.
On January 17, the group said it set up a temporary checkpoint on the CPEC highway in Panjgur’s Rakhshan Kour area, stopping traffic for about four hours. Earlier that morning, it claimed to have ambushed a six-vehicle military convoy in the Gomazi area of Tump, killing six soldiers, injuring four and damaging two vehicles.
The BLF also said it carried out two attacks on January 16 in Kolwah area, including a sniper attack in the Ashsal area that killed one Pakistani soldier, and a heavy-weapons assault on a military camp in Geshkore Bazaar.
The group said it also carried out a highway blockade in Turbat’s Nasirabad area on January 10, seizing a vehicle carrying army supplies before later releasing the driver.
Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) also claimed responsibility for several attacks.
In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the group’s fighters destroyed two electricity transmission towers supplying power to the Uch Power Plant near Dera Murad Jamali in Naseerabad district on Monday night by planting explosives.
He said BRG fighters also destroyed a 24-inch gas pipeline near Jila Bridge on the Sui–Dera Bugti Road in Dera Bugti district late on Sunday night.
The group further claimed responsibility for blowing up a section of railway track near Hadi Bakhsh Rind Tower in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad district the same night.
Earlier, on January 17, the BRG said its fighters attacked the Pakistani army cantonment in Sibi using small arms and grenade launchers, claiming casualties and material damage.
Pakistani authorities had not issued an official response to the BLF and BRG claims by the time of publication.
