Reports of enforced disappearances continue to emerge from Balochistan, with a university student reportedly taken into custody and disappeared in Quetta, while another individual who had been missing for six months has been recovered in the Kech district.
According to local sources, 25-year-old student Ramiz s/o Nawab was detained in the early hours of 12 January 2026 by Pakistani security forces and subsequently disappeared. Ramiz belongs to Qambro area of Awaran district. He was reportedly taken into custody at around 4:30 am from Bolan Plaza in the Brewery area of Quetta by personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and shifted to an undisclosed location.
Family members say they have received no information regarding his whereabouts since the arrest, and no official statement has been issued by the authorities. Human rights activists have termed the incident another addition to the long list of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and have demanded Ramiz’s immediate production before a court of law if any charges exist against him.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Muhammad Bakhsh s/o Murad, who was forcibly disappeared from Koshkalat area of Turbat in Kech district, has been recovered after six months. According to his family, Muhammad Bakhsh had been missing for half a year and was returned on Tuesday, though details surrounding his disappearance and recovery remain unclear.
