Baloch “pro-independence” group, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), has claimed responsibility for the killing of an alleged state informant and a separate attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Balochistan, according to statements issued by the group’s spokesperson.
In a statement released to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group’s fighters detained an individual identified as Mir Jan s/o on of Bhai Khan, a resident of Marap in Surab district, on January 1, 2026. He alleged that the detention was carried out on the basis of intelligence gathered by the group’s internal network.
According to the statement, Mir Jan was accused of acting as a state agent and of facilitating a drone attack on a BLF training camp in Parod, Kalat district, on December 25, 2025. The BLF claimed that five of its members were killed in that attack. The spokesperson alleged that Mir Jan confessed during custody to having concealed a drone chip inside the camp, which was later used to carry out the strike.
The BLF further claimed that Mir Jan admitted to spying for Pakistani security forces for nearly a year, alleging that he had attempted to infiltrate the group under the pretext of joining its ranks. The statement said he had previously been sent to a training camp after preliminary screening but was later expelled for failing to adhere to organizational and guerrilla discipline. Despite this, the BLF claimed, he was released with assurances that he would not engage in activities against the Baloch movement, assurances the group says he later violated.
The BLF said that during his brief training stay at the camp, the alleged agent hid a tracking chip at the camp, which was followed by a drone attack by the Pakistani forces three days later. The attack killed five fighters of the BLF, including it’s training commander Abdul Ahad alias Gazzain Baloch.
The spokesperson said the BLF possessed video footage of what it described as Mir Jan’s confession and claimed the group had executed him for his alleged role in the drone attack.
In a separate statement, Major Gwahram Baloch said BLF fighters carried out an ambush on a Pakistani military convoy on January 9, at around 1pm, near Ornach Cross on a main highway. He claimed the convoy was targeted with “modern and heavy weapons,” resulting in the destruction of one military vehicle.
According to the BLF, six Pakistani soldiers traveling in the vehicle were killed in the attack. The group accepted responsibility for the assault, describing it as an attack on what it called “occupying forces” in the area.
The BLF claimed responsibility for both attacks, reiterating its commitment to continue armed resistance until the “liberation of Balochistan.”
