The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a “pro-independence” armed group, said on Monday that its fighters had killed ten Pakistani military personnel in a series of attacks in Jhao, Barkhan, Tump and Turbat, less than 24 hours after Baloch armed groups claimed responsibility for operations that reportedly killed at least fifteen soldiers.
In a media statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group’s fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy in the Jhao area of Awaran district at around 1 p.m. on 28 December.
He said the attack targeted an army foot patrol, a bomb-disposal team and a pickup vehicle that had gathered at the same point. According to the statement, “eight enemy personnel were killed on the spot and three others critically injured”.
The group said an armoured vehicle assigned to protect the convoy “fled during the ambush, leaving the bodies and wounded personnel behind”.
BLF said it would soon release video footage of the attack.
According to the group, fighters carried out a second attack the same night, targeting a military camp in the Srati-Tik area near Rakhni in Barkhan district.
The statement said fighters used heavy weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, and that two personnel were killed and another injured when RPG rounds landed inside the camp.
BLF said a third attack was carried out earlier on 28 December in the Gomazi area of Tump, where fighters fired several A1 shells at a forces’ checkpoint, causing what it described as “casualties and material losses” to Pakistani soldiers stationed there.
The group said its fighters also targeted Pakistani Navy personnel with a hand-grenade attack at the main gate of a Navy camp in central Turbat at 8:20 p.m. on 27 December. According to the statement, personnel stationed at the gate suffered casualties, and Pakistani troops increased patrols in the area following the blast.
BLF reiterated that it would continue armed attacks “until the achievement of an independent Balochistan”.
Pakistani authorities had not issued any statements confirming or denying the reported casualties at the time of publication.
