The dispute over supplementary exam results at Makran Medical College intensified on Thursday as students escalated their protest, blocking the M8 highway and bringing traffic to a standstill. The demonstration began after students staged multiple rallies inside the college premises during the previous two days, but shifted to the main highway when the administration failed to respond to their demands.
According to the protesting students, the results of the recent supplementary examinations were manipulated, with several students allegedly failed deliberately. They claim that the decision to force three students into a repeat year has placed their academic futures in jeopardy.
Demonstrators described the results as non-transparent, alleging that despite repeated complaints, the college administration ignored all objections and refused to review the disputed outcomes.
The sit-in at the main gate of the college, extending onto the M8 highway, has severely disrupted traffic flow. Commuters and passengers traveling through the route experienced significant delays and difficulties as the protest entered its latest phase.
Meanwhile, the college administration has not yet issued any official statement regarding the allegations or the escalating situation.
Students warned that their protest will continue – and may expand further – unless the administration addresses their concerns and rectifies the results. They added that the responsibility for any further disruption will lie squarely with the college administration.
