Reports from various parts of Balochistan indicate that nine individuals were allegedly taken into custody by Pakistani forces in Quetta and Turbat and have since gone missing.

According to local sources in Killi Qambrani, Quetta, eight men were reportedly detained late on Tuesday night during a wedding gathering. The individuals were identified as Saatak son of Haji Qudrat Qambrani, Bismillah son of Khairullah Qambrani, Masoom son of Shah Jehan Qambrani, Hammal son of Abbas Qambrani, Aftab son of Qudoos Lehri, Afzal son of Haji Mehrab Qambrani, Hair Biyar son of Muhammad Ishaq Qambrani, and Beeberg son of Muhammad Abbas. Their whereabouts remain unknown since the detention.

In a separate incident in Turbat, the family of a university student reported that Noor Khan son of Nazar Muhammad, a student at Turbat University, was taken away by Pakistani security personnel on Wednesday night. Relatives claim he has been missing since the alleged arrest.

Human rights organisations have long raised concerns over enforced disappearances in Balochistan, noting that the number of such incidents appears to be increasing, despite repeated calls for transparency and accountability.

The situation coincides with a major overnight operation in Karachi, where residents of Sharafi Goth in Malir reported that personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) rounded up dozens of people and moved them to an undisclosed location.

Residents said a heavy contingent of CTD officers conducted door-to-door searches in Shah Ali Goth, allegedly used force against men, women, and children, and caused damage to household property. Eyewitnesses further claimed that the officers violated the sanctity of homes and forcibly took away six Baloch youths, identified as Zubair Shafi, Nazir Hanif, Hazeefa Irfan, Munawar Atif, Ishaq, and Ahmed Gul.

Local accounts suggest the operation was linked to an earlier confrontation two nights prior, when CTD personnel attempted to detain a young man from a hotel in the area. The attempt reportedly resulted in resistance from bystanders and a scuffle, during which locals briefly restrained a CTD officer. Additional police reinforcements later freed the officer and left with the detained youth.

Residents say the subsequent large-scale raid appeared to be retaliation for that incident, creating an atmosphere of fear and anger within the community. Families of those taken have appealed to authorities to ensure the safe recovery of their loved ones and to conduct a transparent investigation into the circumstances of the detentions.
