Two Baloch armed groups have issued statements claiming responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Pakistani military forces and police installations across several districts of Balochistan over recent days.
In a statement to media, a spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Guard (BRG), identifying himself as Dostain Baloch, said the group had carried out a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a Pakistani forces convoy near Harnai Phatak in Sibi. According to the statement, one vehicle in the convoy was destroyed and another damaged. The group claimed that five personnel were killed and several others injured. The claims could not be independently verified.
Separately, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) released a detailed statement outlining what it described as twelve separate operations in various districts, allegedly resulting in the deaths of twelve security personnel and injuries to several more.
According to the BLF spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch, the group carried out an ambush around midday in Sirajabad, Bolan, targeting three military vehicles, which it said caused casualties and vehicle damage.
The statement further claimed that on the night of 1 December, BLF fighters surrounded a police check post in Dola stream, Barkhan, briefly holding personnel before a confrontation ensued when security forces from a nearby camp arrived. The group said four Frontier Corps personnel were killed during the exchange, while the police staff were not harmed.
Additional claims included a sniper attack on a security guard in Chery Mallar, Awaran, followed by RPG fire directed at a nearby military camp; a four-hour road blockade and search on the CPEC route in Rakhshan, during which no security personnel were reportedly encountered; and an attack on a military camp in Gili, Buleda, involving heavy weapons.
In another incident cited in the statement, a BLF sniper unit is said to have targeted a guard at a military outpost in Phul Abad, Tump, before firing RPGs and other weapons at the camp, allegedly damaging surveillance equipment.
The group also claimed responsibility for a 2 December ambush on a convoy near Turbat, involving two vehicles and two motorbikes, which it said resulted in three fatalities and two injuries among security personnel.
On 5 December, BLF fighters reportedly targeted a military camp in Garari, Geshkor, with RPG fire. On the same day, the group said it attacked three police check posts in Kachhi and Jhal Magsi, though in two cases officers had already vacated the premises. At the third location, the group said its fighters refrained from firing directly at police personnel in line with what it described as organisational policy, though it warned officers against resisting future assaults.
There has been no immediate response from the Pakistani military or provincial authorities regarding the these claims.
Armed groups have been active in parts of Balochistan for years, frequently claiming attacks on security forces. Independent verification of such incidents is often difficult due to restricted access to many of the affected areas.
