A body recovered on Wednesday night from the Reko stream in the Bulaida area of Kech district has been identified as that of a private schoolteacher, according to local sources.

Police earlier retrieved the severely decomposed remains after residents reported the sighting. The body has now been identified as Ayaz Baloch, son of Mohammad Akbar, a resident of Menaz, Bulaida.

Family and local sources state that Ayaz Baloch had been missing since 12 November 2025, when he was allegedly abducted by armed men described as members of a government-aligned group while he was returning home from school. The family has announced that funeral prayers will be held in Menaz at 11am on Thursday.

In Balochistan, the term “death squad” is widely used to refer to pro-state armed groups accused by nationalist circles of targeting civilians, political activists, human rights workers and suspected insurgents. These groups are often alleged to operate with the support of state and secret agencies, with law-enforcement bodies accused of avoiding action against them. Pakistani authorities have consistently rejected such claims.

Recoveries of unidentified or decomposed bodies have been reported frequently from different parts of Balochistan in recent years, prompting ongoing concern from political and rights organisations.
