Three separate militant incidents were reported in Balochistan, with Baloch armed groups claiming responsibility for attacks on a passenger train, a police station, and individuals they alleged were linked to Pakistani military intelligence.
Jaffar Express Targeted in Naseerabad
In Naseerabad district, the Jaffar Express was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) near Rabbi Canal, within the jurisdiction of Tal Police Station. According to police officials, the explosion occurred as the train passed over the section of track where the device had been planted by unidentified individuals.
Authorities have yet to confirm details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage, though railway traffic was disrupted following the blast. Personnel from Pakistani law-enforcement agencies, including the police and Frontier Corps, cordoned off the area and carried out an inspection of the track. A bomb disposal unit collected evidence and examined the site for any additional explosive devices.
Initial assessments indicate that a remote-controlled or timed device may have been used in the attack.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), a pro-independence Baloch armed group, claimed responsibility. In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the group’s fighters had planted an IED and targeted the Jaffar Express, alleging that several Pakistan armed forces personnel were killed or injured and that the train and track suffered significant damage. The organisation reiterated that such operations would continue.
BLF Claims Operations in Kachhi and Kalat
In a separate development, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), another Baloch nationalist armed group, claimed responsibility for an attack on a police station in Kachhi district and for killing two individuals it described as operatives of Pakistani military intelligence in Kalat.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch stated that on 13 November, the group’s fighters surrounded the Haji Shahr police station in Kachhi at around 2pm, detained the on-duty personnel, seized official weapons and military equipment, and subsequently set the station on fire.
The spokesperson further claimed that the group had earlier detained two alleged intelligence operatives in Kalat. According to the statement, Sanaullah, son of Shafi Mohammad Makali, was taken into custody on 7 November after what the BLF described as an intelligence-based operation. The group alleged that he confessed to involvement in killings carried out on behalf of Pakistan military forces. BLF said that documentary material had been collected and would be released to the media.
BLF also claimed that another individual, Samiullah Nichari, was detained on 26 September and had allegedly admitted to working against the pro-independence Baloch movement. The group said both men were killed on 7 November following what it described as internal investigations and their confessions.
The organisation asserted responsibility for both the Kachhi police station attack and the killings in Kalat.
