The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) have separately claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Pakistani security forces and state-backed personnel in different parts of Balochistan this week.
In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the group’s fighters carried out three separate operations in Kalat and Panjgur, killing six Pakistani soldiers and one alleged informant. Weapons abandoned by fleeing soldiers were reportedly seized by the fighters.
According to the statement, on Tuesday BLA fighters targeted advancing Pakistani troops in Johan, Kalat, using a remote-controlled IED, killing two soldiers on the spot and injuring another. Later the same night, another unit of troops was ambushed with automatic weapons, leaving one soldier dead and at least two others wounded, while several soldiers fled their positions.
The spokesperson further said that on the night of September 29, BLA fighters killed Shakir, described as a member of a state-backed “death squad,” in Panjgur’s Syedan area. The group accused him of facilitating enforced disappearances, acting as an informant, and harassing families of the disappeared.
Separately, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch claimed responsibility for an attack on October 1 in Chaghi district. He said BLF fighters used grenade launchers to target vehicles supplying goods to the Saindak mining project, damaging several trucks.
The BLF statement added that police escorts accompanying the convoy were deliberately spared, saying the attack was directed at what they called an “exploitative colonial project.” The group warned vehicle owners against aiding resource extraction projects in Balochistan.
Both BLA and BLF declared responsibility for the respective operations, framing them as part of their ongoing armed campaign against the Pakistani state.
