Suspected Baloch fighters set up a checkpoint on the main highway in Kalat district of Balochistan on Saturday, conducting snap checks for several hours, local sources said.

Sources said the fighters established the blockade on the highway in the Manguchar area, stopping and inspecting vehicles for more than an hour. During the checks, they reportedly detained one man, identified as Zahoor, and took him with them.

In a separate incident, a checkpoint of Pakistani forces came under attack in the Zawa area of Kalat, resulting in casualties among the troops. Local sources said one injured soldier managed to escape and reached Kalat city in a private vehicle. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the losses.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) said its sniper team targeted a Pakistani soldier at a military checkpoint near Naukoh Hotel in the Nonddra area of Jhao at around 4 p.m. on Thursday, 3 October.

According to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the personnel was “eliminated on the spot,” after which “panicked enemy forces resorted to indiscriminate firing with mortars and heavy weapons.” The group said its fighters safely retreated after completing the operation.

The BLF reaffirmed that its fighters would continue their operations “until the retreat and complete withdrawal of the enemy forces.”
